Projects : VoodooScience Arcade Cabinet WiP
Posted by VoodooScientist

I've always wanted to build my own arcade cabinet, but didn't want to create it from scratch so for quite a long time i've been browsing ebay and various other sites to find one that would meet my requirements. Then one day i came to talk to an engineer at a company i work for and he told me about his hobby of restoring old and used arcade and pinball machines. I immediately asked him if he had any old cabinets he wouldn't need anymore and he told me that he indeed had an old cabinet left.

The vertical mounted 19" monitor was broken, circuit boards were gone, control panel was missing and there was a thick layer of dust and dirt on it from standing around in a garage for years. At the moment i'm fairly done with the planning stage, now i need to finish the list of things i need to order to put this baby together. I also need to get a new digital camera so i will be able to document the progress. In the Laboratory you can find more Information and Pictures of this Work in Progress Project.

Playroom : Highscore support for Circus
Posted by VoodooScientist

While i were at it, i've also added Highscore support for registered Players to Circus. Circus is a flash simulation of the old arcade game with the same name, created in 1977 by Exidy. It is a skill game which requires the player to bounce a jumping clown off the proper side of a springboard, and in turn, propel another clown to the top of the screen where he can burst three colored rows of balloons.

The higher the clown jumps, the more balloons that can be burst and the greater the score that can be obtained. Yellow balloons in the lowest row are worth twenty points each, green balloons in the middle row are worth fifty points each, and blue balloons in the top row are worth one hundred points each. In addition there is a point bonus for eliminating all the balloons in any row. When the clown bursts the last balloon in a row, he hangs there momentarily as appropriate "award music" is played. Then he jumps back down to the springboard and the row of balloons is reset. An additional bonus of an extra "jump" is provided the player whenever he bursts the top row of blue balloons.

Playroom : Saloon Video Poker now with Highscore
Posted by VoodooScientist

Found a bit of time to work out a quick highscore hack for the Saloon Video Poker game. I've also tried giving the option to save the win, but that proved vulnerable to all kinds of cheating so i took it out again.

When you have won more than your starting $100 you get a new button labeled LEAVE right of the deal button. Clicking this button asks for confirmation then the game advances to a screen where it shows your real win(total win - $100) and records this score in the highscore table (only if you not already have a higher score in the highscore table). Don't bother sending me mails asking for your win - this game is
For Amusement Only! Enjoy!

Development : Igor game update
Posted by VoodooScientist

It's been more than a year now since my loyal servant Igor announced development of our Igor game and good progress has been made so far. Concept, engine, 3D-models and animation, sound effects, controls, most of the first game level and most parts of the gui are done but it still needs a lot of work till i will feel it being polished enough to release a demo version of the first level. If all goes well you can expect some screenshots being posted here over the course of the next 3 months that will show the looks and some of the features the game will have. You probably have noticed by now that i'm not at all in a hurry to get this baby out - i want it to be as good as i can make it so i'm really taking my time and learn a lot on the way. If you want to hear specifics about how the game shapes out please post your questions to our forum.
